Why Kalanamak is unlike any rice you have tasted
Nature's most nutritious grain

May help prevent Alzheimer's disease
Regular consumption of Kalanamak rice may help protect long-term brain health. Its rich antioxidant profile supports cognitive function and may reduce the risk of age-related conditions including Alzheimer's disease.

Naturally gluten-free
Kalanamak rice contains no gluten — making it a safe and deeply nourishing choice for those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease. No compromise on flavour, no compromise on health.

A healthier choice for diabetic patients
With a glycemic index under 50 — one of the lowest of any rice variety — Kalanamak helps regulate blood sugar naturally, without sacrificing taste.

Rich in Vitamin A
Unlike processed white rice, Kalanamak retains its natural Vitamin A content — essential for healthy eyesight, a strong immune system, and radiant skin.
Sidhbhoomi Kalanamak Rice has one of the lowest glycemic indexes of any rice variety in India — ideal for diabetic patients, health-conscious families, and anyone who refuses to compromise on taste.
It aids digestion, supports heart health, and provides sustained energy throughout the day — all while filling your kitchen with an aroma unlike anything you have experienced before.
Taste the Rich Aroma
Grown exclusively in the fertile lands of Siddharthnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, Kalanamak rice grains are known for their distinct aroma and rich nutritional profile.
The spiritual connection
Sidhbhoomi Kalanamak rice is a rare variety of aromatic rice grown exclusively in the Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh — the ancient land of Kapilavastu, birthplace of Gautam Buddha.
This rice has been cultivated in the region for over 2,500 years. According to Fa-Hien and other ancient texts, Buddha himself gifted this rice to the farmers of Kapilavastu as a symbol of gratitude — honouring their devotion to the land.
The name “Kalanamak” comes from Sanskrit — “Kala” meaning black, referring to its distinctive dark husk, and “Namak” meaning salt, reflecting the mineral-rich terai soil in which it thrives. The grain itself is white, fragrant, and unlike any other rice you will find in India today.
Buddha said: “The rice will have a typical aroma which will always remind people of me.”
It is said that during his lifetime, Buddha gifted this rice to the farmers of Kapilavastu, as a symbol of his gratitude and blessings for their hard work and dedication towards agriculture.
Beyond its extraordinary history, Sidhbhoomi Kalanamak rice stands apart for its health benefits:
- Glycemic index under 50 (Sugar Free)
- May help prevent Alzheimer's
- Gluten Free
- High protein content

To maintain the aromatic & nutritious variety of rice
Our Process

Seed Selection & Land Preparation
The first step in Kalanamak rice farming is the selection of high-quality seeds. The seeds are then sown in well-prepared fields that have been plowed and leveled. The ideal time for sowing is between May and June.

Irrigation & Fertilization
Once the seeds have been sown, the fields are irrigated and fertilized to promote healthy growth. The fields are irrigated using canals or tube wells, and fertilizers are applied as per the soil test report to ensure that the soil has the right balance of nutrients.

Weed Control & Pest Management
As the rice plants begin to grow, it is important to control the growth of weeds and pests that can damage the crop. This is done by using manual labor or herbicides for weed control and pesticides for pest management.

Harvesting & Drying
The Kalanamak rice crop is typically harvested between September and October, when the grains have matured and turned golden. The crop is cut manually and then bundled together for drying.

Milling & Processing
Once the rice has been dried, it is transported to rice mills for processing. At the mill, the rice is first cleaned to remove any impurities and then dehusked to remove the outer layer. The rice is then polished to give it a shiny finish.

Packaging & Distribution
The final step in the Kalanamak rice farming process is packaging and distribution. The rice is typically packaged in different sizes, ranging from small packets to large sacks. Packaging is done in a clean and hygienic environment to keep the rice fresh.
